EDUCATION
Access to quality education and training is a key to individual and national prosperity. Every American family should have the opportunity to select the best educational fit for their child’s needs. I support school choice by allowing public education funds to follow students to the schools or services that best fit their needs. This may be a public school, private school, charter school, magnet school, co-op, home school or other learning environments that parents choose for their children.
Critical race theory and other divisive equity training should have no place in our schools. We can teach accurate American history without teaching our children to judge each other by the color of their skin.
I signed the education pledge: “I pledge to support policies that promote parental rights in education and educational freedom. This includes the right of parents to voice their opinions at school board meetings and to take their children’s taxpayer-funded education dollars to the education providers of their choosing – whether it be a public, private, charter, or home school.”
As a substitute teacher in the Clark County School District and Nevada Charter schools, I have taught at elementary and high school levels. My daughter and son teach in a Charter school and two of my children’s spouses are CCSD teachers. I have witnessed first hand, dedicated teachers who genuinely care about our children. Lesly and I home-schooled two of our four children. I strongly believe that decisions about educating our children should be made by parents or by people as close to parents as possible. I do not think that bureaucrats in Washington DC should have any role in dictating education policy.
As your representative in Congress, I will fight to abolish the US Department of Education and then block grant the $86 billion back to States with no strings attached.
