Access to quality education and training is a key to individual and national prosperity. Every American family should have the opportunity to select the best educational fit for their child’s needs.  Mark supports school choice by allowing public education funds to follow students to the schools or services that best fit their needs. This may be a public school, private school, charter school, home school or other learning environment the parent chooses for their children. Mark also believes the federal student loan program should be modified so it doesn’t just subsidize colleges and universities, but also provides vocational options.

As a substitute teacher in the Clark County School District, Mark has taught at elementary and high school levels.  Mark’s daughter and two of his children’s spouses are CCSD teachers.  He has witnessed first hand, dedicated teachers who genuinely care about our children.  Mark and his wife, Lesly home-schooled two of their four children.  He strongly believes that decisions about educating our children should be made by parents or by people as close to parents as possible.  He does not think that bureaucrats in Washington DC should have any roll in dictating education policy.

As a member of Congress, Mark will sponsor legislation which gives Nevada families freedom and resources to pursue their education goals.
